MPM is an independently owned, family-based, business

It is owned by brothers Jon Bygate, Tim Bygate and Tim’s son – Dean Bygate. Jon, Production Director, honed his skills through a traditional engineering apprenticeship as did Tim Bygate, Chairman, who went on to gain an MSc Degree in Manufacturing Technology & Project Management at Cranfield University. Together with Dean, Managing Director, who also achieved an MSc Degree at Cranfield in Engineering and Management in Manufacturing Systems, they operate and continue the family business originally set up in Markyate, Hertfordshire almost 70 years ago. Together, they take pride in our unwavering commitment to innovation, a tradition upheld through generations.

Precision, Our Heritage

The journey began in the 1950s, when MPM emerged as a key supplier of precision-machined engine components for the groundbreaking Rolls Royce Rb211 engine, the first jet engine at a 10 ft diameter. As stewards of a rich heritage, we remain steadfast in our commitment to traditional engineering skills. However, our story doesn’t end there. MPM has seamlessly evolved into a multi-skilled, technology-led operation, continuously evolving due to our commitment to our customers’ innovation. Our recent ventures include huge contribution to Optical Fibre Submarine Networks, where we provide crucial components for laying fibre optic cabling across the globe.
